I have a question re:Hosea 5:15. I’ve wondered why Satan continued to persecute the Jews after the cross. Before that I could see his efforts at Jewish destruction as an attempt to corrupt or break the bloodline required for Jesus’ lineage. But after that, why continue pursuing the elimination of Jews?
Hosea 5:15 has the Lord saying,
“I will return again to My place till they acknowledge their offense. Then they will seek My face; in their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.”
After fulfilling the unmistakable sign of the prophet Jonah (Matt. 12:39-40), the Lord waited 40 days for Israel to officially acknowledge Him. when they failed to do so He returned to Heaven, fulfilling the verse above.
If Satan can destroy the nation of Israel, there will be no way for the Jewish people to officially acknowledge their offense (rejecting Him) and petition His return. Satan thinks if he can destroy Israel he will have thwarted the plan of God and will be able to retain possession of planet Earth.
We know he will fail because Israel’s petition for the Lord’s return can be found in Hosea 6:1-2 and many believe their official confession is contained in Isaiah 53.
