Scans And Pat Downs

Q

Praise to God & blessings to you & your family. I have a concern about the new scanning technology and “Pat Downs” at the airports. Since the scans, in essence, show a naked body & the “Pat Downs” are so intrusive, are we committing a sin when we submit to them? I understand our only other option is to travel via ground transportation or stay home.

A

The Bible tells us to be obedient to our leaders (Romans 13:1). The only exception I can find is if they require us to worship a false god. Then we’re supposed to refuse (Daniel 3:16-18). I believe submitting to the scanners and pat downs is a violation of our constitutional rights but I don’t think it’s a sin. And if you believe what you hear, these procedures will soon become a part of our ground transportation as well.
