A Secret Jesus Couldn’t Reveal, Follow Up

Q

Re: A Secret Jesus Couldn’t Reveal. We do not understand your statement, “Blessings like salvation by grace through faith alone, eternal security, and especially the rapture, never have and never will be offered to Israel.” We understand that only the Church will be raptured, but how does the Jew receive salvation if not thru faith alone?

A

Like several others who’ve written about this you’re confusing the Jewish people with Israel. In the study I said during the Church age individual Jewish people who come to the Lord for salvation will receive the same privileges as Gentiles. We’re all saved by grace through faith alone, have eternal security, and will go in the rapture because we’re all part of the Church (Galatians 3:28).

But in the Old Testament we can see that Israel was required to keep the commandments as well as believing in the coming Messiah. It was a faith plus works combination. Israel’s relationship with God had to be renewed on an annual basis, on the Day of Atonement. And while the Holy Spirit was with them and sometimes came upon them in power, He never did dwell in them as a deposit guaranteeing their inheritance. He was taken away from Saul (1 Sam 16:14), and David had to plead with the Lord not to do the same thing to him (Psalm 51:11). Ezekiel 33:12-20 is one place where God went to great lengths to explain that no matter how righteous a person had been, falling into sin would cancel all of it and he would die.

The Age of Grace will end with the Rapture and the world will go back to a faith plus works combination just as it was before the Church was born. Tribulation believers, Jew or Gentile, will have to maintain their faith in Jesus and keep the commandments in their own strength (Rev. 14:12). The Parable of the 10 virgins demonstrates that some will succeed and some will not (Matt. 25:1-13). Even when Israel gets the New Covenant there will still be a priesthood, a temple with daily sacrifices for sin, and mandatory holy days. This is explained in detail in Ezekiel 40-46. Only the Church has been blessed with salvation by grace through faith alone, eternal security, and the promise of the rapture.
