The Seven Spirits Of God

Q

In your Revelation study you have said the seven spirits of God in Rev. 4:5 refer to the Holy Spirit and you cited Isaiah 11:2 for confirmation. But I find only 6 attributes there: “the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD–” What am I missing?

A

These attributes of the Holy Spirit become available to us when He comes to dwell within us. The seventh one is the delight in the fear of the Lord, found in Isaiah 11:3.

“Delight” is the metaphorical use of a word that basically means “to smell a pleasant aroma”, and when applied to God, fear means respect or reverence.

Delighting in the fear of the Lord is to find our reverence for the Lord to be a pleasing thing, something to be savored.
