Should I Have The Test?

Q

Should a Christian choose to have something like a chorionic villus sampling test even when they know that they will keep the baby whatever happens? I ask this because it has a risk of miscarriage, and who am I to bring this on if God has other things planned. I don’t know where in the Bible that is says not to but I know I’m to trust in God. However, being prepared for the worst case scenario will help emotionally and we’ll have a specific problem to pray about.

A

These are always judgment calls that have to be made by those involved. The advice I can give is to pray about it and if the Lord gives you peace go ahead, but if you continue to feel conflicted maybe it’s best to leave well enough alone. Whatever you decide, Philippians 4:6-7 says:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
