Q. Concerning your “Judging Planet Earth” article; in the bowl judgments your statement, the sun will go super nova, I have to ask the question, could the earth survive a super nova ? or- perhaps a lesser event?
A. A super nova is an exploding star that becomes very bright before burning out altogether. In Rev. 16:8, during the 4th bowl judgment, the sun will suddenly get much hotter. So much so that people will be scorched with fire and seared because of it’s intense heat.
Then in the 5th bowl judgment (Rev. 16:10) the sun will go dark and plunge the earth into darkness.
To me this was a similar effect to that of a super nova. It wasn’t necessarily meant to be a scientifically accurate statement, more for the purpose of illustration.
