Q. I read somewhere that the teachings of Herbert W. Armstrong are (don’t know how to put it exactly) but lets say, not exactly according to biblical truth. Is this so – should his teachings and/or organizations teachings be avoided?
A. Herbert W. Armstrong was the founder of the Worldwide Church of God (WCG). Many of his beliefs were incompatible with Biblical Christianity, so books and articles written by Herbert W. Armstrong should be avoided.
After his death in 1986 his successors made an effort to bring the WCG’s official theology into harmony with mainstream thinking. They claim that the WCG is now in full agreement with the statement of faith of the National Association of Evangelicals.
