The Accuser

Q

Re: Rev 12:10. “For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down ” This passage appears to refer to the tribulation believers. (Jews and Gentiles) What exactly is he accusing them of? Is it because they are not sealed with the Holy Spirit and they are being accused of not following His commandments?

A

This is a general statement, not specific to any class of mankind. Satan has been our accuser since the beginning, always bringing our sins to God’s attention. In fact his name comes from a Hebrew phrase that means “the accuser”. The reason Paul said that Jesus is at the right hand of God interceding for us (Romans 8:34) is that Satan is always accusing us. As of the beginning of the Great Tribulation Satan will no longer have access to God, but will be confined to Earth.
