Q
Thank you for your sharing your knowledge of the Word. My question is on Judges 2 in the KJV it says an angel ( small a ) of the Lord and in the ( NKJV) it says the Angel of the Lord. Is there any significant difference here and which is the most accurate?
A
The phrase “The Angel of the LORD” is typically treated as an Old Testament appearance of the Lord Jesus. Since the angel in Judges 2:1-5 is speaking in the first person, voicing criticism and assigning consequences, it appears that He’s the Lord. Therefore I think the phrase “The Angel of the LORD” is more appropriate.
