Q. I found it to be a very interesting article. However, I just had one question about the Mystery Babylon mentioned in Isaiah 13-14, Jeremiah 50-51 and Rev. 18-18. Obviously, Mystery Babylon is going to be completely obliterated by God (which would also have to take place while the anti-Christ is in power).
I figured it would be further into the future even considering that Iraq has now had so much Western influence. I find it hard to believe for all of the other events to happen as well as for Iraq to rise to such prominence in such a short period of time.
A. You’re right. There isn’t enough time to build Babylon into a world capital, with all that that entails, if the Lord is returning in 2015.
Some might use this to support an argument for mystery Babylon being some place other than Iraq, such as the US. But I can’t find any way to reconcile a literal understanding of all the passages concerning the future judgment of Babylon with an allegorical understanding of its location.
