Q
In 1Thessalonians 4 when we read of the ‘rapture’ it states that the dead in Christ shall rise first. Why do you suppose this is?
Will it be that the dead will disappear from the earth a millionth of a second before we do or is there something else that our English doesn’t express as well as the Greek?
A
Someone once said that it makes sense for the dead to rise first because they have 6 feet further to go. 🙂
The Greek word translated first means first in time or place. No mystery there. I think the dead rise first because they have to be reunited with the perfected version of their bodies while the living already reside in bodies that only need perfecting. But that’s just my opinion. There’s no Scripture to explain the order.
