The Rapture And The Tribulation

Q

Thank you very much for your site, I’ve learned a lot and my day is not complete when I miss reading it. My question is, as I heard and read that the last 7 years are called the tribulation, do we begin to count 7 years just after the rapture or is there any time interval before beginning to count the 7 years?

A

The Rapture and the last 7 years are only related in the sense that the former has to precede the latter. Technically, the 7 years are called Daniel’s 70th week (Daniel 9:24-27). They begin after the Rapture when God restores His covenant with Israel and the anti-Christ confirms a covenant of peace (Daniel 9:27). I believe Ezek. 39:22 tells us this will take place at the end of the Battle of Ezekiel 38-39.

The last half of the 70th week is called the Great Tribulation. It’s 3.5 years long. The Bible doesn’t specify whether there’s an interval between the Rapture and Daniel’s 70th week or not.
