Q
What was rent from top to bottom at Christ’s death? I cannot find the reference to this for our Bible Study.
A
By reading Matt. 27:51 you’ll see that it was the Temple veil, a thick tapestry that separated the outer room in the Temple, called the Holy Place, from the inner room, called the Holy of Holies. This inner room contained the Throne of God and no one was permitted to enter except for the High Priest, and him only one day per year.
The veil was too thick and too tall for any man to tear, especially from top to bottom. Only God could have done it. By tearing it open at the moment of the Lord’s death, God was saying that because of it, the way to Him was now open to anyone, anytime.
