They Will Not Taste Death. Follow Up

Q

I have a question about your recent post entitled “They Will Not Taste Death” in which you said, “There they were momentarily transported to the time of the 2nd Coming where they saw Moses and Elijah talking with the Lord in His glory.” I am familiar with the Transfiguration of Jesus, but had never heard before that what the disciples were seeing was the time of the Second Coming. Where does it say in scripture specifically that they were present at the Second Coming?

A

This is evidenced in several ways. First, Moses and Elijah were there in physical form although they had been dead for generations. This shows it to be a time in the future, after the resurrection of the dead. Second, Peter offered to construct booths for them, something done during the Feast of Tabernacles, which will be the premier feast during the millennium (Zechariah 14:16-19). And third Peter described the event in his 2nd letter, saying it concerned the coming of the Lord in power, which refers to the 2nd Coming (2 Peter 1:16-18).
