Turkey And The New Testament

Q

We have a question, please. We saw on a show on TV that one of the books of the Bible was written in TURKEY, could you tell us please which one that would be?

A

The place we call Turkey today was known as Asia Minor in Biblical times and was the center of the early Gentile Church. Aside from the Gospels, much of the New Testament was either written to or from churches there.

Letters to Churches in Turkey include Ephesians, Colossians, Philemon (Colosse), Galatians, 1 & 2 Timothy (Ephesus), 1 & 2 Peter (Galatia), and Revelation (Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicea).

Paul’s two letters to the Corinthians were written from Ephesus, as were John’s three letters, which were intended for circulation among the various churches in Turkey.
