Q
We hear a lot about a village without walls and we expect to see a dis-arming of Yisrael before everything gets going. But what if: the village without walls is attained thru deception and pressure and Yisrael leaves itself totally open to attack by bowing to the pressure to pacified the Edomites?
A
The Hebrew words that are translated “dwell safely” in Ezekiel 38:8 imply a state of mind rather than an established fact. Other ways in which the word for safely is translated include “carelessly” and “boldly”. So I think it’s quite likely that Israel’s assumed state of safety will be more of a perception based on the promises of their neighbors than anything else.
