What If He Had Lived Longer?

Q

Do you believe there has ever been a person who has died before accepting Jesus as their savior, but that God knows would have accepted Jesus had they lived longer? Would this person still be saved? Does God credit us for what He knows we would’ve done if given more time?

A

It would be nice if it worked that way, but it doesn’t. Hebrews 9:27 says man is given one life and after that faces judgment. so the decision making period ends at death. Since we’re not told in advance when our death will occur we have no way of knowing how long we have.

But since God knew the length of our days before one of them came to be (Psalm 139:16) and knew from the creation of the world who among us would choose Him as our savior (Rev. 13:8), He makes sure we do so before we die. For those He foreknew, He also predestined, and those He predestined He also called, and those He called He also justified, and those He justified He also glorified (Romans 8:29-30). No one falls through the cracks.
