What Is The Lord’s Will For Me?

Q

I am writing concerning an issue I am facing. I am not sure that I am in the Lord’s will or if I am being deceived. I was recently accepted to graduate school and am receiving lots of resistance from family and friends who don’t think I should be leaving my job and going back to school. At the same time I’m getting encouragement and help from others. So I’m getting confused. Is the resistance a sign that I shouldn’t go or is the help I’m getting a sign that I should. How can a Christian tell what is the Lord’s will ?

A

The answer is in Romans 12:1-2

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God–this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

When you turn your entire life over to God to do with as He pleases, He will reveal His will to you in ways that are obvious. Currently, you are getting both encouragement and interference, which is natural. I recommend you focus on the encouragement because there doesn’t seem to be any hidden agenda there like there is with the resistance. Above all, be patient. You won’t save any time by moving out ahead of the Lord and you won’t waste any time by waiting on Him. His timing is perfect.
