What Makes Us Different?

Q

My question is, in the Bible it states that “the Devils also believe and tremble”. What is the difference between our belief that God is God and their belief? If they are full of sin and so are we what is the difference. Why am I saved when they’re not? The answer is probably right in front of me, but I can’t figure this one out.

A

The verse you have in mind is James 2:19, which says, “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that – and shudder.”

Being disembodied spirits, demons believe there’s one God because they’ve seen Him and felt the effects of His judgment. But believing there is one God is not enough to save us. In order to be saved we have to believe we’re sinners in need of a savior, and that God sent His Son to die for our sins. Then we have to ask Him to be our Savior. That’s what gets us saved, and that’s what makes us different from them.
