Is the recent incident in which Israeli naval commandos stormed a flotilla of ships headed for the Gaza Strip a major turning point in prophecy? Sounds to me like Turkey is taking sides with the Palestinians now. What are your thoughts on this?
I believe this crisis is the latest in a series of steps Turkey has taken lately to sever its ties with Israel, and will perhaps be the definitive one. In his efforts to revive the Ottoman Empire, Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan is trying to portray Turkey as the undisputed champion of Islamic causes in the Middle East. In order to succeed he has to persuade the secular Turkish army to line up behind him. Drawing Israel into a confrontation appears to be his way of doing this. If he’s successful, one of the last barriers to the fulfillment of Ezekiel 38 will have come down.
