When Do We Begin Counting?

Q

If the 6000 year old creation theory is correct when do we begin counting? Do we begin with creation or when Adam left the garden?   Did Adam start counting his age when he was created or rather when he lost immortality.

A

No one knows for certain when the creation took place, but much research has been done.  I believe the most popular date is October, 4004 BC.

This date was put forth by James Ussher, the Anglican Archbishop of Ireland between 1625 and 1656. You can read about his calculations in his book, “The Annals of the History of the World”.

But to me any date around 4,000 BC is close enough.  Bishop Ussher pegged this as the first day of creation, not the day Adam was created.

All the Bible tells about Adam’s age is that He lived 930 years (Genesis 5:5)
