Q. Thanks for your incredible web site; you address issues most churches today don’t breathe a word about. I am confused with the event that leads to the end of the great tribulation and the actual second coming which I think is some time afterward. What event happens that ends the great tribulation if it is not the second coming?
A. According to Matt. 24:29, the sign that will tell the world that the Great Tribulation is over is that it will be plunged into darkness. It says,
Immediately after the distress of those days ‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’
That will tell them it’s over. At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky and all the nations of the Earth will mourn. This may require some unspecified duration of time. Otherwise the Lord wouldn’t have said no one will know the day or hour of His return. After that, they’ll see the Lord coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory.
