Where’s The Love?

Q

I’ve been wondering about the love of Jesus. Why does His love seem absent from so many who call themselves believers? Is the answer found in Matthew 24, specifically verse 12, or was Jesus speaking only about Daniel’s 70th week? Or is it more answered by 1 John 4:8? In such a religious nation and with so little love visible, how do we find the true brethren who love Jesus?

A

I believe Matt. 24:9-14 is an overview of Daniel’s 70th Week and applies specifically to that period. But even today we can see the growing disregard for even those things that used to be called “common courtesies”.

1 John 4:7-8 says, “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

This tells us when we’re looking for love in the world we should be able to find it among born again believers, who constitute only about half of those who identify themselves as Christians.
