Greetings to you in the wonderful Name of our Lord Jesus Christ! First of all, I thank the LORD for your ministry. I would appreciate greatly if you can give me your biblical interpretation on I Timothy 2:11 & 12. May the LORD richly bless you and your ministry.
Since there were women in Paul’s life (like Pricilla and Lydia) who served as teachers I interpret this passage to mean that women should not hold the most senior positions of authority in the church.
By the way, we’re victims of a poor translation in this passage. The word translated “have authority over” in verse 12 is the strongest word possible in the Greek language. It means to be an absolute master in the sense of having a choke hold on someone that could cause their death. Therefore the verse is telling us that a woman can hold any position in the church for which she’s qualified as long as there’s a man in a more senior position of authority over her.
