Why Did Jacob Cross His Hands?

Q

Re: Genesis 48:12-20.  Could you answer a rather difficult question?
What is the prophetic meaning of Jacob’s crossed hands blessing on Manesseh and Ephraim? And, where are those tribes today?

A

Since Manasseh was Joseph’s first born, Jacob should have placed His right hand on his head. By crossing his hands, he was giving Ephraim the blessing of the first born instead. This meant he was saying Ephraim would be greater than Manasseh.

Both Ephraim and Manasseh were part of the Northern Kingdom which was conquered and dispersed by the Assyrians in the 8th Century BC.
