Why does God allow the enemy to inhibit, prevent, stall, interrupt, interfere with, His work on Earth. Paul mentioned that he had wanted to go somewhere but the devil had stopped him. Why does God allow this?
One of the things Adam and Eve lost when they sinned was control over planet Earth, making it one big spiritual battleground. In 1 John 5:19 it says, “We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.”
In John 16:33 Jesus said that we should expect these kinds of things but to take heart because He’s overcome the world. That means He will come back to reassert His ownership. Paul said that the entire creation is groaning in anticipation of that day (Romans 8:18-21). But until then, it’s like we’re fighting behind enemy lines, and as such, we’ll face resistance of all sorts.
