Q. My question is regarding a statement that you made on your MP3 study of the Book of Mark. You referenced Hosea 5:15 – 6:1 to support your teaching that in order for the Lord to return the Jewish people would have to officially petition him through a qualified petitioner. You also stated that much of the motivation that Satan has for exterminating the Jewish race is to eliminate the possibility of this happening, and in fact had come very close to accomplishing that objective on more than one occasion. Who are the “qualified” ones among the people of Israel that could petition the Lord and at what other times in history has the devil come close to killing them all off?
A. There is a belief among scholars that Israel will have to officially ask the Lord to return based on Hosea 5:15-6:1. Those qualified to do so have to be empowered to act in an official capacity before God on behalf of the nation, such as a high priest or other representative of the Sanhedrin, which has recently been re-constituted.
I believe each attempt to wipe out the Jewish people has been Satanically inspired. The Holocaust is one example. Remember Hitler called it the “final solution” to the Jewish problem. The Russian Pogroms would be another. The several attempts by Islam since 1948 are the most current, and they haven’t given up yet. We still have the Battles of Psalm 83, Isaiah 17 and Ezekiel 38 to be fulfilled. Believing Jews will only survive the Great Tribulation due to supernatural protection (Rev. 12:13-14), and finally, the anti-Christ will mobilize all the nations of the Earth against Jerusalem (Zech. 12:2-3) in one last ditch attempt to thwart the Lord’s return.
