Here’s a glimpse of our week of outreaches in Mexico.

I’m so excited to share our week in outreaches with you! ♥

Grocery prep

We got our big order delivered and then packed up into bags for each family!

Our goal is to provide families in need with non-perishable staples. This month, we were able to include beans, rice, oil, corn flour, regular flour, sugar, tomato paste (used for their traditional rice), shelf-stable milk, pasta (ramen or small shapes), toilet paper, and soap.

Coloring Crafts

We got these really cute lazy susans donated for the kids! They have these little wedge-shaped containers that sit and can spin around on the base, and they also come out so we can place them around for the kids to reach on each table

At the soccer field

Our neighborhood has a concrete sports court, and on warm days when the kids have too much energy to sit and do crafts we head there to run around. This time we blew up balloons and played a game that is very popular here, where they try to pop each other’s balloons.

Finishing Details

It is looking so good! I love when construction zones start to look like homes suitable for the kids to grow up in! Olga’s son made those concrete columns and they look so good!

Windows!

Priming & Painting

Look at how beautiful this looks! They were given a sliding glass door years ago that they’ve been saving for just this space!

Helping Maria rebuild after the fire

This is getting so exciting! I can’t wait for Maria, the widow whose home this will be, and her daughters to finally have a roof over their heads again!

Here we are with the concrete guy measuring for the roof pour!! It’s ridiculously expensive to buy wood just to make concrete forms, so people here all share materials. Between several families, they can usually have enough to make it work, and then they’ll lend them to the next family in need. It’s a really cool part of this culture. However, they found a few pieces of plywood that we needed to replace because they were too worn to support the load. However, for the whole thing, we only needed to buy three sheets of plywood, and Maria will have these to lend to the next person.

What an incredible blessing to be a part of. While they were measuring, Maria told us how God has already brought good out of this terrible tragedy. She said that having been a widow for a long time, she finally felt good enough to open her heart to another. She met someone and thought the relationship had potential. She said she and her teen daughters were praying together for God’s will. And then the fire came and destroyed their home and all they owned. They were devastated. And then, instead of being a support in the midst of her tragedy, this man, who had only ever been kind to her and her daughters before, said she now had nothing to offer him and broke up with her. She told this story with a smile, saying she asked God to tell her clearly and this was as clear as you could get.

She asked me to share this story along with her immense gratitude for this amazing blessing in helping her rebuild her home. ♥

Thank you so much for praying with us for those we serve together!
