Under The Law?

Published: February 10, 2021 (Originally published: November 6, 2006)
Q

The Lord said we were not to put ourselves under the law because if we did and broke one we would be guilty of all and are cursed. The tithe is not right for today. We are to give and to do whatever we can for anyone who needs it. We do this out of love.

Once Saved Always Saved?

Published: February 10, 2021 (Originally published: October 13, 2013)
Q

If one has professed of being born again but in time has gone back to the ways of the world (one’s sinful deeds), continues on in such behavior even when one knows that it is wrong, never asks forgiveness and then passes away before repenting. Where would one go? Will the person be accepted in the Kingdom of GOD, but have a minor role in GOD’s Kingdom? Or will the person be identified as one who never really accepted CHRIST as ones’ Personal SAVIOR and thus be delegated one’s portion with the wicked? I hope I made sense in my question and hope by GOD’s favor you will be able to enlighten me.

Persistence In Prayer

Published: February 11, 2021 (Originally published: January 30, 2014)
Q

I’d appreciate your insight into which of two approaches to take when praying for God’s help in an area of need such as a job, spouse, healing, or housing. Luke 18: 1-8 seems to recommend repeatedly requesting something, just as the widow’s pestering of the judge caused him to relent and grant her request. And yet God already knows what we need. So in that case does it show more faith to ask God once for something and then leave it in His hands, trusting that if it’s His will He’ll grant our request? We know that without faith it’s impossible to please God. Which approach pleases our heavenly Father more, repeatedly praying for the same thing, or praying once and trusting He’ll answer?

Born Again Twice?

Published: February 11, 2021 (Originally published: March 23, 2015)
Q

Can a Christian who has fallen away for 8 years and come back to Christ, still be filled with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit? All of this after repentance and being Water baptized again. Is it necessary to ask for the Baptism of Holy Spirit a second time? I still have my prayer language, etc.

Satan The Hinderer, Follow Up

Published: February 12, 2021 (Originally published: September 30, 2007)
Q

Your explanation of “Satan the Hinderer” the other day caused me to wonder…how are we to determine whether the false apostles quoted in 2 Cor. 11: 13-15 are simply sincere Christians being deceived by false doctrines, or genuinely evil workmen? Is it our responsibility to even know the difference? How should we handle them, if they arise in our local congregations? Thank you, for your insight.

How Can We Know For Sure?

Published: February 12, 2021 (Originally published: November 18, 2010)
Q

How do we know that we are saved for sure? I have read and heard of pastors and church workers who confessed that they got saved in the churches where they were ministering. I’ve also heard about others who after doing great things for God openly denied their faith in Him. I know that those who truly trust in Him alone for salvation will be saved and experience His transforming power. I am just not sure anymore about whether my faith is the right kind or not considering my failures and sins. How can we know for sure that we are indeed saved and not just deceiving ourselves?

Prayer Language And Tongues

Published: February 12, 2021 (Originally published: March 24, 2015)
Q

Your response to “Born Again Twice” mentions prayer language, i.e. speaking in tongues. I don’t get this whole tongues thing. I’ve never had a prayer language; and frankly after asking for it many times in an attempt to do all God would have me do, without receiving, I don’t believe it’s for every Christian otherwise God would have given me one. Do you believe every Christian must speak in tongues or have a prayer language?

Opposing Prayers

Thank you so much for your site. Your insight and teaching are invaluable to me.

My question regards the concept of that which any two men agree upon will be done in heaven–what if two men agree on one thing and two other men agree on the opposite? Lots of people believe lots of things and most don’t match up, I’ve noticed.

Effectual Fervent Prayer

Published: March 5, 2024 (Originally published: February 1, 2013)
Q

Re: James 5:16. I am wondering how one prays an “effectual fervent” prayer? Does God require a certain level of emotion (fervency) to see prayer answered? How does one motivate oneself to such a level of intensity? Does it apply to certain kinds of prayer or all types?
