How Can I Know I’m Doing What The Lord Wants?

Published: November 22, 2016 (Originally published: November 24, 2015)
Q

I have a burning question that you answered for another person, but I need examples please. When we are doing our good works for the Kingdom, how do we know if we are working in God’s power and not just our own? Is there any way to tell the difference besides waiting for the Bema judgment?

Satan In Judaism

Published: November 22, 2016 (Originally published: November 8, 2010)
Q

I have a question concerning the references to Satan in the Old Testament. I mentioned in my class that Satan is a figure from the Judeo-Christian tradition and one of my Jewish students adamantly stated that the Jews neither believe in Satan or hell and that references to Satan do not exist in the Torah. I know the Old Testament well enough, and referred my student to Genesis, as well as Job and he still would not acknowledge that Satan is a figure in Judaism. Can you help me understand this? Are the references to Satan in the Old Testament the result of Christian influence and interpretation of original Old Testament documents? I was really perplexed by this student’s statement and didn’t quite know how to appropriately respond. Thank you for your help and wisdom!

Seed Of The Serpent

Published: November 22, 2016 (Originally published: November 12, 2010)
Q

I read your website often. It’s a blessing to me. My question is about Genesis 3:15 which states “And I will put enmity between thee (the serpent) and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” I believe the woman is Israel and her seed is Jesus. Who then is the seed of Satan? Since Jesus is the literal seed, is there a literal seed of Satan?

Trusting God

Published: November 22, 2016 (Originally published: November 13, 2010)
Q

I hope this question is in line for what is considered acceptable. I have a 24 year old son who I love with all of my heart. He is not saved and when I try to speak to him about God being the only way he gets angry with me and starts referring to the Old Testament and how God ordered groups of people to be killed including woman and children; wanting to know how I can trust that kind of God? I don’t know how to answer this as I also have questions about things, but I trust that God had His reasons for what was commanded and one day I will understand, but for my son it’s not so easy.

I am a Christian and I believe that we are living in end times and need to be ready for God. How can I get my son to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior? I want him to be part of the rapture, but he’s part of the group that explains a good deal away with science. I pray to God and ask for this blessing to be given to my son, but how can I have peace knowing God will bring my son to Him? I just ache when I think of what’s coming and seeing my child in the middle of it and if he isn’t saved how can I ever be happy in Heaven knowing that he isn’t there?

Will I Recognize My Spouse?

Published: November 22, 2016 (Originally published: November 18, 2010)
Q

I have been reading your web site faithfully for a couple of years or more. Thanks so much for your time. You are Blessed! My wife of 31 years passed away 6 weeks ago of a massive stroke. I have really been hit hard with grieving. At my mens bible study last week we were in Romans 8. I asked a question whether or not I would recognize my wife as being my wife on earth or not. The general consensus was probably not. It saddened me even more. I know there will be no sadness in heaven but I still have to continue living here just guessing weather or not I will recognize my wife or not, and all my other family members for that matter. Oh! I forgot to mention my wife was a saved Christian who loved Jesus!

Is Miscarriage An Act Of God?

Published: November 21, 2016 (Originally published: November 21, 2010)
Q

When a young married lady has a miscarriage I have been told that sometimes, if something is wrong with the fetus, nature sometimes steps in to handle it. Do you think that God would intervene in a matter such as this? This is a strong Christian couple that I know could handle the situation. However, I was just wondering what God’s plan might be in this situation? Are there any scripture that I could use to help this couple?
