More On The Christian Life
Published: August 22, 2023 (Originally published: August 5, 2013)There are some Christians at my Church who still tell coarse jokes more often than not, they lust openly, and talk about things they shouldn’t. They always want me to hang out with them, and have “fun”. Now, I have just recently came back to Christ, and they still expect me to be the old man I was. My question is this: I know we are saved by grace through faith, not based on works but on Jesus’s obedience alone, and once we are saved, we cannot be lost. However, shouldn’t they be showing some remorse here? Shouldn’t they who claim to be Christians, act like Christians?
Healthy, Wealthy, And Wise
Published: August 22, 2023 (Originally published: August 4, 2013)Is 3 John 1:2 teaching health and wealth? “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
Differences In The Gospel Accounts
Published: August 22, 2023 (Originally published: August 3, 2013)Re: Matt 2:13 and Luke 2:39. I’ve been trying to work out the timing for these two accounts. Luke has Joseph taking his family back to Nazareth after dedicating Jesus and fulfilling the purification requirements for Mary. Matthew tells us they went to Egypt.
I understand there’s an argument for the Magi coming to Bethlehem as much as two years after the birth. Did they they go to Nazareth for a while after Jesus was born, but then returned to Bethlehem for some reason and stayed there until the Magi showed up. What am I missing?
The End Times According To Isaiah, Part 3

The next view Isaiah gave us of the End times is found in chapters 11-12 and concerns the Messiah.

Why Did God Let This Happen?
Published: August 21, 2023 (Originally published: August 3, 2013)I know you must have answered this question before, but I cannot find the exact answer I am looking for on your website. When I talk to family, they always ask “why did God let this happen?” referring to tragedies and natural disasters. I would like to have an answer ready when people ask this. Could you address this? Thanks a lot.
Is There A Ruling Class In Heaven?
Published: August 21, 2023 (Originally published: August 2, 2013)My question is based on 2 Tim 2.12. Its a popular view in my church that if you suffer in this life, and respond well to it, you will be rewarded by becoming part of a ruling class in heaven. This sound fine except that isn’t it true that all members of the church will enjoy the same privilege regardless of their life experience (Rev. 1:6)? I am not able to find support for such a hierarchy of believers in Heaven. Is there such a thing?
Can You Be A Christian And Hate Israel?
Published: August 21, 2023 (Originally published: August 2, 2013)I was on a site recently that called itself Christian but was basically devoted to bashing Jews and Israel. Their posts were just a lot of what I perceived as anti-Israel propaganda. They claimed that if people were made aware of the evil of Zionism and what it stands for then they would see “the truth.” When I identified myself as a Christian and a supporter of Israel, because of what the Bible says, I was mocked and called a “Zionist”. They told me I needed to have the courage to pray and ask the Lord to show me the truth about Israel and the Jews. Where do you think people like this stand as far as the Lord is concerned?
More On The Olivet Discourse
Published: August 17, 2023 (Originally published: August 28, 2010)Matthew 24:15 to the chapter’s end seems pretty straightforward. It covers a period from the middle of Daniel’s 70th week until the LORD’s return. But I’m wondering about the specific time period indicated by Matthew 24:4-12. Could it be that Matthew 24:4-12 covers the first half of the 70th week? After all, verse 13 says that “he who endures to the end, the same shall be saved.” That doesn’t sound like a statement that would characterize the “church age” in general, but a period characterized by a return to the Mosaic Law.
Loving God As He Loves Us
Published: August 17, 2023 (Originally published: August 18, 2010)After Jesus’ resurrection, and the time he appeared to the disciples after they had gone fishing. Where Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved Him and Peter replies in a different word, meaning he loved Him as a brother. Finally the third time that Jesus asked Peter the same question, He used the same word that Peter was using for love. I am wondering if it is possible for us to love Jesus and the Father in the same way that They love us, that is with an agape love. I know that Jesus is very dear to me and I love Him with all my heart, but am wondering if is possible for us as humans to love as God loves.
Joining A Local Congregation
Published: August 17, 2023 (Originally published: August 8, 2010)I am joining the church I have been attending by profession of faith (received Christ as my personal Lord and Savior) but my husband refuses to join saying he does not believe in some of the doctrines of this church, such as the rapture. He believes that upon death, we are present with the Lord and we do not have to wait for the graves to open to be in His presence. It is kind of confusing to me. He also says the church celebrates Easter and not the Passover. On this account, I see his point but also know the Church does not celebrate the pagan rituals but rather celebrates Christ’s victory over death.
The End Times According To Isaiah, Part 2
Published: August 16, 2023 (Originally published: January 10, 2009)A Bible Study by Jack Kelley
We’re beginning this installment in Isaiah 2:6 and will continue through chapter 4. Having given us a brief overview of Israel’s Kingdom Age, Isaiah will now back up to provide more detail concerning the time just preceding the 2nd Coming.
Who Was That Man?
Published: August 16, 2023 (Originally published: August 27, 2010)I have a question about Daniel chapter 10. In Daniel’s vision, there seems to be more than one person communicating with Daniel; the “certain man {who} was clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz,” and the “one looking like the sons of men,” who has an appearance much less overpowering than the first figure. I have heard that the awesome, first figure is actually Jesus Christ himself and that an angel stood by to help Daniel when he was overcome by His awesomeness. I just need clearing up who is who.
Are Marriage Licenses Required By God?
Published: August 16, 2023 (Originally published: August 25, 2010)Where in the Bible do we find reference to the need to obtain a marriage license in order to become husbands and wives. Genesis 2:24 speaks about the mandate for the couple to leave father and mother to become one flesh but is there something else we need to do? A friend of mine argues that a license is not really required by God and that it is something men came up with. What do you think?
An Unforgivable Sin?
Published: August 15, 2023 (Originally published: August 26, 2008)I’m scared I’ve committed the unforgivable sin. About a month ago I stopped listening to my inner voice because I had been wrong about the guy I was dating. I thought the spirit was telling me to marry him, but it turned out that wasn’t the case. So by not listening did I turn my back on the spirit? I still love God with all my heart and want him to lead my life. I’m worrying myself to death. I’m so scared God has left me. I never wanted that to happen. I just wanted to make sure I was doing Gods will.
Masturbation and 1 John 3:9
Published: August 15, 2023 (Originally published: August 10, 2008)I have read in your Q&A post that you don’t think masturbation itself is a sin, and clearly, you have missed a vital verse from your bible. This verse most definitely would cover masturbation.
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 1 John 3:9
I hope you will prayerfully consider revising your position on the subject matter.
Can I Marry A Man Who’s Been Engaged Before?
Published: August 15, 2023 (Originally published: August 7, 2007)My boyfriend and are are both virgins and are talking about getting married one day. He was engaged back in college but didn’t get married.
My question is whether their commitment to each other would in any way constitute him having been married before in the eyes of God. I know in Biblical times a “betrothal” was quite binding and could only be ended by a divorce. If I choose to marry this man, I want to be fully convinced it is right in the Lord’s eyes to do so. What do you think about the issue?
The End Times According To Isaiah, Part 1
Published: August 14, 2023 (Originally published: January 3, 2009)A Bible Study by Jack Kelley
Although he wrote during the period of 740 to 700 BC, Isaiah is the prophet most often quoted in the New Testament. He was a prophet to the Southern Kingdom at the same time as Hosea, Amos and Micah. Isaiah was of the tribe of Judah,
The Cherubim
Published: August 14, 2023 (Originally published: August 7, 2007)Ezekiel chapter 1 talks about four Cherubim. In v.10 he said that the four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion on the right side: and they had the face of an ox on the left side, and the four also had the face of an eagle. Then in v.14 of chapter 10, it said that every one had four faces, the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. And the cherubim were lifted up. These were the living creatures that I saw by the river of Chebar.
I just want to know if they are talking about the same angels, because from what I read in chapter 28 it seems as it was Satan and I am a little confused. Help me out.
Mean Spirited Parents
Published: August 14, 2023 (Originally published: August 1, 2007)My parents are drug abusers, mean spirited and do not act like parents to me, or grandparents to my son. I am a child of God, love the Lord with all my heart, and am at a difficult place. How can I honor my parents as the Bible commands, but not get caught up in the constant drama of their world. I don’t want my son exposed to them. I feel hurt and saddened that they do not act lovingly to me (their only child) and their only grandson. I have feelings of not wanting to see them or talk to them at all … just cutting them out of my life. I don’t hate them .. I love them .. but I cannot live in their world. What are God’s views on this?
The Babylonian Captivity and Daniel’s 70 Weeks
Published: August 11, 2023 (Originally published: July 17, 2014)I recently read, “Israel did not repent of its sin at the end of the 70 years of Babylonian captivity. Some of Jews did return to the Promised Land, but the majority simply settled in the Persian Empire (Iran-Iraq). So how long until God would regather the Jews and restore them back as the Nation of Israel? The solution to the mystery is found in Leviticus 26:18. “‘If after all this you will not listen to me, I will punish you for your sins seven times over.”
If Israel did not repent, the punishment promised would be multiplied by seven times. That means 70 years would become 490 years. This is the length of Daniel’s 70 weeks. Are the Babylonian captivity and Daniel’s 70 weeks related because Israel failed to repent?
Is Alcohol A Sin?
Published: August 11, 2023 (Originally published: February 3, 2013)I was brought up to believe that there are two kinds of wine in the Bible. One that is alcoholic and one that is not. Talking to a friend recently, he believes that drinking wine is not a sin if you’re not using it to get drunk. So the question is: Is alcohol a sin? Could you provide me with verses that tell us that there are 2 different forms of wine in the Bible?
Rebellion In Heaven?
Published: August 11, 2023 (Originally published: June 15, 2006)When Lucifer said “I will be like the Most High. I will ascend” and etc. it says that a 3rd of the angels plus the Devil were kicked out of Heaven. How is it possible for a Revolt of that kind to take place in Heaven?
If free will is possible to that extent for some angels or all, is it possible for any Spirits of people who have not been assigned to earth yet to revolt as well? In other words, people like you and I that exist in Heaven who have not yet had the opportunity to be born in the flesh yet. How could any evil have existed in Heaven in the pure presence of God to begin with?
What Is Tu b’Av?
Published: August 10, 2023 (Originally published: July 17, 2014)I have a question concerning the Jewish Feast Tu B’ Av. What do you know about this feast day? Do you know the date? With what we are seeing what is going on in Israel and the world I believe we are pretty close to going home. I am in full agreement with you on Rom 11:25 and the fulfillment of the Gentiles. I am pondering a feast day as event-driven just because we know our Heavenly Father works in a direct order. I would love your thoughts on this especially with shortness of time we are in.
The Major Prophets
Published: August 10, 2023 (Originally published: July 16, 2014)Am I correct in saying that three of the four Major Prophets (except Isaiah) came during the time of the Babylonian Captivity? Also, I cannot find any scriptures relating to how any of the four Major Prophets died. Can you help?
Old Testament Teachings On Jesus?
