Abraham’s Seed

Q

My husband keeps asking me where did the gentiles come from if we are all from Abraham’s seed. I am really having a hard time explaining it to him. I told him the Jews are from Abraham, but he wants to know where we are from since we should have the same dna from Abraham. Can you please help me explain this?

A

In the beginning everyone was the same. God divided humanity into two groups when He called Abraham. After that the descendants of Abraham (Jews) were separate from the other nations (Gentiles).

In Galatians 3:26-29 Paul said whether we’re Jews or Gentiles if we belong to Christ we’re Abraham’s seed and heirs of God’s promise. Then in Galatians 4:4-7 he explained that because we believe in Jesus we’ve all been adopted into the family of God. In this way He made all believers in Jesus into one group which He called the Church and no longer thinks of us as either Jews or Gentiles. So although we’re Abraham’s seed by adoption, we’re not all biological descendants of Abraham. Gentiles who haven’t accepted Jesus as their savior are not Abraham’s seed and are still considered to be Gentiles.
