Adam, Eve, And Abraham

Q

I am an adult Sunday school teacher with about 40 in the class. We’ve been studying books of the Bible. For 2009, we plan to discuss stories in the Bible, with meaning relative to the time they were written and today. Of course we are using your book and website for reference material.I have 2 questions relating to time lines.

1. What would be the dates for the Garden of Eden?
2. When did Abraham live (2000 BC?)

A

The most popular estimates place the time of the creation at around 4,000 BC. The math provided in Scripture indicates that Abraham was born 1,947 years later and died in the 2,122nd year at age 175 (Gen.25:7) so your 2,000BC date is pretty close.
