Applying My Spiritual Gifts In The World

Q

For the past twenty years I have worked in a factory. I have been wanting to change my career but I don’t know where to start. I decided to find out what my Spiritual gifts are and see if there is something professionally I can do with them. The results from online tests I took indicates showed me to be gifted as a teacher who also has the gift of discernment. What can I do with these gifts which God has given me to provide for my family at the same time glorifying God? I have been praying and am simply waiting for an answer; for a door to open. What wisdom can you give me in this situation?

A

These tests can be effective guides in helping you to discover your spiritual gifts, but you must always consult the Lord for direction and confirmation.

Career applications of the gift of teaching are obvious, but if you lack the proper educational requirements you should focus on teaching opportunities that don’t require certification. For example, I made good use of my teaching gift in the field of sales and management training. If you’re a musician you could offer private lessons. Combining natural talents or abilities with Spiritual gifts will bring good results. Is there a way for you to earn a living teaching others either the vocational or avocational skills you’ve acquired?

The most important thing is to consult with the Lord. He gave you the gifts, as well as your talents and abilities, and knows you need to earn an income. Put yourself in His hands and let Him direct you toward an application that meets your needs and honors Him.

The Lord promised to show us His will for us when we offer our whole beings as a living sacrifice to Him (Romans 12:1-2). This is more than a wait and see what happens approach. It involves active seeking on your part.
