In Mat 8:29 the demons asked Jesus if He came to torment them before the time. This tells me they may not know the day or hour that Christ returns but they might know when the tribulation starts. If so, the speed at which evil is unfolding causes me to think they do know and have increased demonic activity to meet the appointed time. Any thoughts?

I believe they can read the Bible like anyone else and knew the Lord’s first visit was not the time for them to be tormented. But now they can sense the progressive weakening of the Holy Spirit’s restraining force (2 Thes. 2:7) and know they will soon have free reign on earth, at least for a while.
