Q. I was doing a study on something else the other day and my eyes fell on Revelation 13:13. I kept on thinking about it and wondered what it really means, if there could be any link at all between this scripture and the increase in reports about meteorites all over the world. I would like to know what is your opinion about this.
A. Rev. 13:13 describes the false prophet causing fire to come down from heaven as one of the miraculous signs he performs. I’ve always taken this to be a counterfeit form of Elijah’s miracle on Mt. Carmel (1 Kings 18:36-39). 2 Thes. 2:9 says at the end of the age Satan will use counterfeit miracles to deceive the people. In order for his plan to work, the people will have to believe the anti-Christ and false prophet are actually causing these things to happen. So far the meteorites are not being attributed to any person, but are thought to be random acts of nature.
