Q. I would like to hear your thoughts on a comment that I heard recently from a respected Bible teacher who said that Ezekiel 39:9-10 says that after the War of Gog & Magog, the Jews will burn the weapons from this war for fuel for a total of 7 years. The Bible teacher went on to say that because in Revelation 12:6 (3.5 yrs into the tribulation) the Jews flee Israel to a place prepared for her by God (Petra) and therefore the War of Gog & Magog has to start at least 3.5 years before the start of the Tribulation Period.
A. It’s important to remember that only those Jews who believe in Jesus will heed His warning to flee (Matt. 24:15-16). This is the group mentioned in Rev. 12:6. The majority will not come to faith in the Lord until just before the end of the Great Tribulation (Zechariah 12:10). Before then, many of them will actually believe the anti-Christ is the Messiah (John 5:43). Therefore in my opinion the assumption made by this teacher is not correct and the 7 years during which Israel burns the weapons from Ezekiel 38 will roughly coincide with Daniel’s 70th Week.
