Consorting With Demons

Q

I have been watching some paranormal research shows. In all cases they either call the entity a ghost or a demon. Many are Christians and even the priests will decide if the activity sounds demonic or not before they come to try to help.

Can a human soul actually get caught here and not cross over or “go to the light”? In many cases they find out something tragic happened there and are supposedly able to help them cross over. Also I have heard that all ghostly activity and information from mediums or psychics come from demons. If so why would they pretend to be the people that once lived. I know Satan is the great deceiver. Are there passages in the bible that can clear this up for me? What is your opinion on all this?

A

People who promote this kind of thing are asking you to believe that the Lord would misplace someone on their way from this world to the next. I don’t think so.

Deut. 18:9-12 identified several flirtations with the supernatural that were detestable to Him and therefore forbidden. He said that the practice of these things is what finally prompted Him to send the Israelites to drive the Canaanites out of the land after giving them 400 years to repent.

Verses 10-11 list them. Child sacrifice, divination, sorcery, interpreting omens, witchcraft, casting spells, acting as a medium or spiritist, consulting the dead.

In my opinion, most psychics and mediums are fakes, but according to this passage those who are not are consorting with demons. The demons pretend to be dead relatives, etc. so they’ll have credibility with the living.
