Hi Jack, I wrote to you a while back but did not receive a reply, so I would like to resubmit my question. In all of your years of studying the bible, have you ever found in scripture where God told a man to take a second wife for any reason? Do you believe that it was ever God’s idea for polygamy to take place or man’s idea and God allowed it because of man’s lustfulness?
Right from the beginning, this was God’s instruction on marriage:
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. (Genesis 2:24)
It’s clear from this that God does not approve of polygamy. It’s obvious that man strayed from this from time to time, especially in the Old Testament. But as you can see, it was never God’s intention for him to do so. The bible doesn’t tell us why He permitted this to go on.
