Does John 1 Precede Genesis 1?

Q

When I compare Genesis 1:1 with John 1:1 I see a huge difference, but I’m asking for your opinion. Isn’t John 1:1 much more ancient than Genesis 1:1? His being has to predate His work, does it not?

A

Yes. A careful comparison of the two verses will lead one to conclude that while Genesis 1:1 took place at the beginning of time, John 1:1 precedes time altogether and is a statement from eternity past. This is confirmed by Micah 5:2 which tells us the Messiah who was to be born in Bethlehem was someone whose going forth was from before time and is everlasting. In other words, He’s the eternal Son of God.
