Fighting Back

Q

I have been struggling with doubts about my salvation over the last 4 months. It has gone from questioning doctrine to questioning how we believe to even questioning Gods existence. Is this normal? I feel it is Satan trying to steal my joy and assurance. No matter how hard I try to resist him I feel he fights harder and throws more questions. I have gone to a few people about this and I have been told that a non believer would not be struggling like I am with my salvation. Would you agree with that?

A

I agree that an unsaved person would not be struggling with this issue, so you must be under some kind of attack. Read Matt. 4:1-11 for a model of the proper response. Jesus answered only with Scripture. Then read 2 Cor. 10:3-5 about the divine weapons you’ve been given. Use Scripture to take these thoughts of doubt captive. Matt. 7:7-8, John 6:28-29, John 6:38-40, Ephesians 1:13-14, Ephesians 2:4-9, 2 Cor. 1:21-22, John 10:27-30, Romans 8:28-39, Romans 10:9, Romans 10:13, Titus 3:4-7 are some of the weapons you can use to demolish strongholds and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God where your salvation is concerned.
