Q
Your site is much appreciated, and I have recommended it to many friends. Rev. 8:1 says that “…there was silence in Heaven for about half an hour.”
How does this verse fit with a timeless Heaven, i.e. time doesn’t exist.
A
John was reporting events from the perspective of a man from earth, even though some of these events were taking place in Heaven. I think he was trying to give us some understanding of how the duration of this pause felt to him. A half hour of silence can be an uncomfortably long time. To say it will be a pause for dramatic effect would be a gross understatement.
