Q
My question is on 2 Corinthians 6:14 which states “Do not be unequally yoked together with an unbeliever.” Does that mean, if believer does marry unbeliever, he or she is committing a sin? Or is this just a recommendation?
A
Paul didn’t actually come out and say that it’s a sin. But it’s much more than a recommendation. Consider it a strong admonition, something believers should avoid if possible, because it means that the unbelieving spouse will not be part of the single most important aspect of the believer’s life. Even the best marriages can be difficult at times, so we should not knowingly begin a marriage with something that will probably make it even more so.
