More Law And Grace

Q

In the 4 Gospels the Law is stressed, but in Paul’s letters, Grace is stressed. Is this because Grace did not come into effect until Christ died?

A

Throughout most of His ministry, Jesus preached to Israel as if He was bringing the Kingdom to them at that time (Matt. 4:17). He did this because had they accepted Him as their Messiah the Kingdom would have come. After they rejected Him, the Lord instructed the disciples to preach the Good News to the Gentiles as well, teaching them that they were saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).

After the Church is gone, there will again be an emphasis on the Law. But we should remember that salvation has always come through the belief in a redeemer who would die for our sins. Before the Church Age, this belief had to be demonstrated by obedience to the Law. The same will be true after the Church is gone. Only the Church is exempt.
