More On Matt. 24:34

Q

I have one question. Some translations of the scripture states that “SOME of the people of this generation will still be alive when all these things happen”. Since He says “some”, could that be an indication that, rather than 70 years (a normal life span) it might be 80-100 years? Because, if you think about it, we hear about 100 year old people all the time. So “some” of this generation would still be alive. Are there any other scriptures that would limit the period to 70 years?

A

I checked several of the major translations and none of them includes the word “some” in Matt. 24:34. Neither does it appear in the original Greek rendering. Psalm 90:10 says that the average lifespan is 70 years, even though some might live to be 80.
