Resurrection For The Millennium?

Q

When are the believers who live through the Millennium resurrected?

A

The Bible doesn’t come right out and say when Millennial believers will be resurrected. We know they will have a sin nature and will be mortals, although life spans will be much longer than they are today (Isaiah 65:20). But I’ve always been intrigued by a possible hint in Rev. 20:15.

Right at the end of a passage about the Great White Throne judgment, John wrote, “If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown in the lake of fire.” The question I haven’t been able to answer is, “If only the dead are being judged here why did John mention the book of life?” By definition the dead are not written in the book of life.

One possibility is this judgment could include believers from the Millennium. If that’s the case they would be resurrected at that point because only immortal beings can inhabit eternity. But that’s just a guess on my part. No one knows for sure.

There are so many unanswered questions about life in the Millennium that I’ve come to the conclusion there will probably be a 3rd testament written for that time just as there was a 2nd testament written for our time. And just like the New Testament helped Jewish believers adapt to the church age, so this 3rd Testament could help believers who missed out on being part of the Church adapt to the Millennium.
