Revelation Time Table

Q

In the broad “timetable” of the 21 Judgments of Revelation, where/when does the Abomination of Desolation take place? Is it possible to ascertain which judgment(s) it will be particularly associated with in that time frame? Is the midpoint the half-hour of silence?

A

The abomination of desolation will take place in Rev. 12-13. Rev 12 is the view from Heaven and opens with the Dragon in Heaven. Then he’ll be cast to Earth in verse 9. The time, times and half a time in Rev. 12:14 corresponds to the 1260 days of the Great Tribulation and is the time during which the believing remnant of Israel will be protected in the desert.

Rev. 13 is the view from Earth where we see the anti-Christ emerging in the power of the Dragon with his cohort, the false prophet. They set up the image and introduce the mark of the beast. This is not the anti-Christ’s introduction on Earth. That happens with the first seal of Rev. 6. But it is the moment at which he is indwelt by Satan.

So the seal and trumpet judgments take place in the first 3.5 years of Daniel’s 70th week, sometimes called the beginning of sorrows. The bowl judgments happen during the final 3.5 years, or Great Tribulation, which is kicked off by the Abomination of Desolation as the Lord Jesus indicated in Matt. 24:15-21.
