Will there still be romance in heaven? After the rapture, during the millennium and beyond, do you think it’s possible that men and women will still fall in love with each other?
The answer depends on what men and women you’re talking about. For the Church in the New Jerusalem, most scholars believe our relationships will be much different and don’t appear to include those of a romantic nature (Matt. 22:23-33). But for natural humans on Earth during the Millennium, I believe romance will still be a part of their life. After all, it appears that part of their purpose will be to re-populate the Earth. This would indicate romantic relationships that culminate in marriage. The Bible does not disclose any information on what life will be like after the Millennium.
It’s important to remember that the only thing we can really be sure of about our life after the rapture is that it will so far surpass our life here that we will not feel even a moment’s regret about parts of our old life that may not be a part of our new one. Otherwise it wouldn’t be heaven.
To people who say they can’t imagine being happy in heaven without the same romantic relationships they enjoyed here, Paul said,
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived the things God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Cor. 2:9). In other words, it’s beyond imagining.
