Satan’s Expulsion, Follow Up

Q

In ‘When is Satan’s expulsion’ you reply: Thousands of years after Adam and Eve had their encounter with Satan, he can be seen in Heaven contesting with God over the righteousness of Job (Job 1:6-7). I thought that Job was one of the very earliest books to be written so I would like a clarification on ‘thousands of years after’.

A

By doing the math in Genesis 5 and adding Genesis 7:6, we discover the Great Flood came 1656 years after Adam was created. Continuing with Genesis 11:10-26 tells us Abraham was born 291 years after the flood. Isaac was born when Abraham was 100 years old (Genesis 21:5). Jacob was born when Isaac was 60 (Genesis 25:26). A quick search didn’t reveal Jacob’s age when Joseph was born, but already we’ve totaled up 2107 years from the creation of Adam to the birth of Jacob.

If the Book of Job was published while Joseph was the Prime Minister of Egypt, as some scholars contend, then it would have been over 2000 years after the time of Adam and Eve.
