Q. I joined a new church with great enthusiasm and joy. Beautiful people and a great pastor. However, I am watching the ministry slide into a Calvinistic & Reformed view, which I can not grasp – I am confused and in constant prayer asking God to to guide me. My question is this – do I stay in this church when I just do not believe their views?
A. In my opinion the Church’s primary purpose is to provide a place where we can worship God and come closer to Him through the study of His word. Any place that does not help us achieve these goals is not fulfilling its purpose. I agree with you that the teachings of Calvinism and Reform theology are not consistent with a literal interpretation of Scripture. I think you should continue to seek the Lord’s direction, asking Him to lead you to a place that will fulfill this purpose for you.
